Since 1999 I have worked in every flavor of surround sound, from simple Pro Logic to 13.1 channel experimental surround all in Pro Tools. I am consulted often about doing surround mixing in Pro Tools and was asked to work on the surround section of the new book, Pro Tools Overdrive by Pyramind's Matt Donner. I offered some special tips and tricks to making things pop in surround.
I've worked on hundreds of DVDs and showcases for HD Video, most of which are in 7.1 Channel TrueHD or 5.1 Dolby Digital. I have done the mixing and mastering on the majority of these discs, which are usually custom discs for trade shows or for sale on www.dolby.com.
The audio setup consists of 5 Genelec 1031A monitors as L, R, C, Ls, Rs and stereo Velodyne 18" subs with custom bass management by Studio Technologies.
